We spoke Johnny Timpson of Scottish Widows at the recent Financial Services Expo London. He discussed the effect - or lack of effect - of the gender directive on protection sales, noting that while activity spiked over the quarter when it was introduced, overall its effect was negligible. Timpson also explores the 'major issue' of protection sales and whether renaming income protection to better represent its function and combat its negative perception.
