The meeting is open to members and associate members.  The quarterly meeting helps bridging lenders to keep up to date with developments in the market and within the ASTL which will help them to be more compliant, more prosperous and become more competitive.  Key speakers are lined up to give bridging lenders inside information on crucial areas that will affect their businesses in a way that they may not otherwise have access to.

Mark Plummer from HMRC will talk to the members about the fraud-beating Mortgage Verification Scheme; he will cover the basics of the scheme, how it works, what it covers, how they reveal the results and what it means for lender

Lorna O’Brien, mortgage policy adviser from the FCA will look at how the MMR will affect bridging firms when it is introduced next April.  She will discuss the sales process, responsible lending and the things bridging lenders need to think about before the MMR implementation. Lorna will expand on this topic at the ASTL conference taking place in London on the 10th October.

Benson Hersch, chief executive of the ASTL says:

“It is important to provide ASTL members with access to valuable key speakers so that they can get inside information and in-depth understanding of key topics that will fundamentally affect their businesses in a way that they may not otherwise be able to do.

At the meeting next week we will have both HMRC and the FCA there to talk to members and associate members in an informal way that will allow them to ask questions on a face-to-face basis.”
