A Friday update from NACFB...

Shadow Business Minister for the House of Lords, Lord Mitchell, invited me to meet him on Tuesday 23rd this week, and I was honoured to accept.

It was a great opportunity to explain the NACFB’s perspectives and the action we’re taking, with our patrons and with our new partners at the FSB. I was even able to take a tour of the House of Lords, and sit in the Chamber, though most of our time together was naturally spent explaining how the NACFB is really benefitting the SMEs across the UK. Lord Mitchell is part of Ed Milliband’s cabinet, so our message is hitting the right levels.

Part of the reason for the NACFB’s move to London was to get closer, literally and figuratively, to Westminster. Every day MPs are making decisions that directly affect the funding of small businesses, we want the NACFB and its members to play our part in that process

Lord Mitchell, London University graduate and one time chairman of Syscap, has recently been appointed Chair of the e-Learning Foundation. The use of the internet to educate and inform is also of interest to the NACFB. You may have seen some additional qualifications appearing on the member pages of this website. We will be making some formal announcements about our online training and education plans soon. The idea is that we’ll be able to show an increased level of training among our members, and in turn that will help us in our discussions with new lenders – discussions which continue to keep me busy at Hamilton House.

Don’t forget to register your interest if you’d like to attend our AGM and Networking Lunch on Friday 23 November – just go to this page.
