Aldermore boosts board with two new appointments

Aldermore has appointed two Non-Executive Directors to its Board. John Hitchins and Cathy Turner both bring extensive experience and knowledge of UK banking to their new roles.

John Hitchins is a qualified accountant who brings 38 years of experience to the role, having spent his whole career at PricewaterhouseCoopers becoming Partner in 1988 and retiring in June 2014. He joined PwC after graduating from Oxford University in 1976 and has specialised in bank auditing and advisory services throughout his career.

At PwC his major clients included Euroclear, Lloyds Banking Group, the Bank of England, Bank of Ireland, Barclays, JP Morgan Chase and Nomura. He also carried out a wide variety of advisory work for other banks and on behalf of the regulators covering corporate governance, high level controls and other regulatory issues. John was PwC’s banking industry leader from 2001-10 and from 2010 to his retirement led the PwC network’s global IFRS technical group.

John is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and was formerly Chairman of the Institute’s Banking Committee and a Board member of the Institute’s Financial Services Faculty. He has also served as a member of the Institute’s Business Law Committee. John has also served as a member of the IFRS Advisory Council and also as a member of the UK FCA Practitioner and Markets Practitioner Panels.

Cathy Turner is currently Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Countrywide plc. She is also Vice President of UNICEF UK and is a Council member of the Royal College of Art, and Institute of Financial Services.

Cathy has extensive experience in financial services with 15 years at Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group. She was formerly Chief Administrative Officer of Lloyds Banking Group plc. At Barclays, she was a member of the Group Executive Committee and Group HR Director with responsibility for Human Resources, Strategy, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing. During her time with Barclays she was also Director of Investor Relations for four years. In her earlier career Cathy worked in consultancy with Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young and Watson Wyatt managing client relationships with a particular focus on Compensation and Benefits.

Aldermore’s Non-Executive Director David Soskin has announced that he has decided to step down from the Board. Having been a member of the Board for over two years, David now wishes to spend more time on his other businesses interests.

“David has done a remarkable job helping us get to where we are today. David brought an invaluable depth of online business experience at a time when the Bank was looking to enhance its digital offering.
