The designer and entrepreneur, along with his best friend Andrew, will cram into a three-wheeled auto rickshaw - with just 7 horsepower behind them - and face the infamous Indian traffic to travel from Cochin at the southern tip of the country through desert, hills and cities to Shillong in the North-East. No set route, no back-up, no way of knowing if they're going to make it; the only certainty is that they will get lost, they will get stuck and they will break down.

The driving force behind this challanging two-week event is raise money for charity, with the pair aiming to raise over £1,000 for Blackpool's Trinity Hospice and Brian House. It is a cause that is close to their hearts and is in conjunction with the Blackpool Gazette's Hospice Heroes campaign which aims to generate over £200,000 to help modernise the 30 year old buildings. More about the campaign can be read here.

Barcadia Media director Andy Shields said:

“This is a massive challenge, and one that will no doubt test our limits – but it’s a fantastic cause. Neither of us have been involved in any serious charity work before so selecting a charity that meant something to us was difficult.

“Fortunately I stumbled across a recent campaign by the Blackpool Gazette called Hospice Heroes, aiming to raise £200,000 for Blackpool's Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice. As two local lads, both of whom have had grandparents who were cared for by the Hospice, it all fit together perfectly.

“We’ll be facing extreme temperatures, an unreliable vehicle and India’s notoriously chaotic traffic so it will be tough at times. But our aim is to raise over £1,000 for the Hospice and so of course we would be grateful if you could dig deep and donate to this worthy cause!”
