Launching on 26 May, the Fantasy Football site will be open to all Paymentshield financial advisers and readers of Financial Reporter, running through to the World Cup final on 13 July. Participants will have the chance to compete with peers to win the cash prize. If users register before the 2nd of June, they will also get the chance to win the latest England shirt.

The website will allow users to pick their own teams, create and join leagues and keep up to date with results and real time point updates on the site and on their mobile phones. Leaderboards will be updated daily and email updates will be sent out regularly during the tournament.

Tim Johnson, CEO of Paymentshield, said:

“The World Cup offers a unique opportunity for us to invite financial advisers to take part in something different, exciting and engaging.

“Paymentshield is encouraging companies to set up their own mini leagues to see if they can come out top against their competitors. Official 30 man squads will be released on 13 May so participants can already make a start on thinking about their teams!”

Once a broker has joined the league and selected a team they will be able to see real time point updates on the Paymentshield Fantasy Football website during matches. Leaderboards will be updated daily and email updates will be sent out regularly during the tournament, and the winner announced after the final.

James Lucas, Director at Barcadia Media, said:

“With the England team announced and World Cup fever beginning to take over, we thought this was a brilliant opportunity to engage with financial advisers and have a bit of fun.

“We hope that everyone will get involved and that it’ll encourage a bit of healthy competition!”
