The show once again featuring a varied seminar programme featuring the industry regulator, trade bodies and lenders – and those who attended the seminars took their chance to speak to some of the best-known names in the industry. During the sessions, advisers took the opportunity to question the speakers on issues such as procuration fees and Help to Buy Scotland, prompting lively debate and an invaluable insight into the state of the market.
The seminar programme gave delegates a wide range of topics to explore, including sessions on protection, equity release, specialist lending, and the mortgage market – and the FCA’s Lynda Blackwell gave the keynote address of the day, exploring the future of mortgages as the Mortgage Credit Directive continues to shape the market.
The first Shawbrook Bank Academy also took place at the show, featuring six sessions which gave advisers more information on the opportunities in the specialist lending sector, as well as two sessions on regulation in light of the upcoming Mortgage Credit Directive - which drew great praise from delegates who said the idea was a ‘great way to speak to the experts’ and ‘very useful’.
The hundreds of advisers who attended the show were overwhelmingly positive in reaction to the show, citing the location and wide range of exhibitors as excellent, and felt the opportunity to spend valuable time with lenders and providers was ‘crucial’.
Financial Services Expo’s next show will take place in Manchester on 20th April 2015.
Front Events Director James Prosser said:
“It’s been another fantastic day for the Financial Services Expo. It’s clear from the enthusiasm and number of delegates through the door that there was a real need for the show in Scotland, and there’s been plenty of discussion, debate and positivity about the Scottish mortgage market.
“As always, we are immensely grateful to all of our sponsors, partners and media partners for their support, and to our exhibitors for making the show as fantastic as it has been. We hope to see you all again in Manchester!”
