Divisional Sales Manager for the South Lorenzo Satchell took on the Tough Guy Challenge for the first time in January as a way of testing his fitness to the limit.

The keen sportsman, who has previously run marathons and competed in Ironman triathlons, joined a team of nine brokers and lenders who all managed to complete the challenge.

That was no mean feat considering that around half the 2,500 competitors failed to make it to the finish line.

The event, which is held every year in Staffordshire, features an exhausting 10 kilometre cross-country run followed by a punishing assault course which is claimed to be the toughest in the world.

But 43-year-old Lorenzo, from Surrey, completed the course in just over three hours and he is ready to do it all again. Lorenzo was running in aid of The Children’s Trust, which provides specialist care for severely disabled children.

Lorenzo said:

“This was by far the hardest thing I have ever done, both physically and mentally.

“The course really takes its toll and we were all shaking with hypothermia by the end, but you learn a lot about yourself and I think I am mad enough to try it again next year!

“It would be great to see if anyone else was up for braving the elements.

“If you really want to challenge yourself, I would say ‘go for it’."
