Q4 GDP growth revised up to 0.7%: ONS

UK GDP growth increased by 0.7% in the final quarter of 2016 according to updated estimates from the ONS, up from the 0.6% recorded in the preliminary estimates last month.

The ONS says upward revisions within the manufacturing industries is the main reason for the increase.

GDP growth in Q4 also saw a continuation of strong consumer spending and strong growth in the output of the services sector with a notable contribution in consumer-focused industries.

GDP in current prices increased by 1.4% between Quarter 3 2016 and Quarter 4 2016.

However total growth during 2016 has been revised down by 0.2% to 2.0%.
