We spoke to Peter about brand strategy, team motivation and his advice for Winners' Party attendees.

FR: What impact has winning a Financial Reporter award had on your business?

From the independent consumer research MAB have carried out, it is clear that our potential customers are influenced by awards in their decision making process, and so all awards are extremely valuable if integrated into a company’s marketing and brand strategy. Awards are also very motivational for staff as they are recognition for a team effort, even if the award is for an individual.

FR: What advice would you give to this year's potential winners?

When you have won your first award you never want it to be your last, so identify award categories you feel you could compete strongly in, and as a team ensure you are best in class.

FR: Why is it so important to recognise good practice within the industry?

It showcases what the best intermediaries, lenders and insurers having been doing to win their awards, and awards are aspirational for many. I speak to many advisers and business leaders that are highly motivated by recognition, and being recognised by your peers is the best type of recognition.

FR: Why should you win an award again this year?

Listing MAB on the London Stock Market was a massive achievement, and from the reaction received it has been viewed as a big endorsement of the Intermediary sector. Like awards, I know it has motivated many in terms of what they want to achieve in their businesses. If my peers feel that is worthy of an award then I would be delighted!

FR: Any advice for Winners’ Party attendees?

Don’t drive and make sure you eat before!
