The conference will open the debate on three key topics: affordable housing, the aging population and over-indebtedness.
In a statement, the FCA said:
"The UK mortgage market faces a range of challenges to meet the future needs of consumers. Regulation is one part of a complex mortgage landscape; the challenges we face require a multi-faceted response from industry, Government and regulatory bodies.
"With a focus on affordable housing, the aging population and over-indebtedness, we will explore their impact on the future of the mortgage market. By considering these complex issues, we aim to begin identifying how all market participants and consumers can respond to the challenges they pose.
"There will be keynote speeches from Christopher Woolard, our Director of Strategy and Competition, and Linda Woodall, our Director of Supervision, Retail and Authorisations, along with panel debates and interactive sessions featuring industry, academic and FCA experts."
