Since the launch of the NewBuy scheme earlier this year, Halifax has partnered with 40 builders, up to ten times the number of some lenders. Halifax launched its NewBuy products on 16 April 2012 and received the 1000 application on Wednesday 21 November.

Whilst the majority (76%) of applications have come from first time buyers, around a quarter have been received from homemovers. The South East accounts for just under a third of the applications but properties have been purchased in each region across England.

Stephen Noakes, mortgage director, Halifax, comments:

"Our commitment to NewBuy has been clear since the scheme launched, and receiving our 1000th application within six months is testament to that. Over three quarters of applications have come from First Time Buyers, showing that it's working as another option for those taking their first steps into the market, but it's great news that it's also supporting those moving up the ladder too."
