Among an impressive array of speakers already confirmed, conference delegates will hear from Charles Bean, the deputy governor responsible for monetary policy at the Bank of England, Law Society chief executive Des Hudson, and Richard Pym, executive chairman of UK Asset Resolution.

Chaired by BBC broadcaster and journalist Naga Munchetty, the conference line-up also includes a wide range of speakers from within the CML membership, representing all types and size of lender. The conference, held in association with Crown Mortgage Management, will take place at the Business Design Centre, Islington, on 3 November 2011.

Adopting the theme of a ‘mortgage road trip’, the conference sets out to plot the industry’s journey towards a stable and better functioning mortgage market. It will set out to give direction and try to ensure lenders have a feel for the terrain ahead.

The conference will scrutinise an extensive range of topical issues, including the impact of funding constraints, regulatory reform and the wider economic environment.

Other topics due to be debated include:

- how effectively the Bank of England is engaged with the UK mortgage market;

- the outcome of the Financial Services Authority’s mortgage market review, and how it will affect the industry;

- the impact of new lenders;

- the future of conveyancing; and

-  mortgage funding and distribution.

As well as an impressive line-up of speakers, the conference also provides opportunities for delegates to network and to arrange individual meetings with speakers, exhibitors and other delegates.

More networking time has been built into this year’s timetable, providing delegates opportunities to benchmark their own experiences and circumstances with colleagues in the industry. The conference is expected to attract more than 300 of the most senior mortgage professionals and around 30 exhibitors.
