I feel this view glosses over much of the impact releasing sums of cash from one’s home can have on improving retirement. What's more, I also feel that many are using equity release very wisely, like reinvesting in their home, and I know thousands are more than happy they took out a lifetime mortgage. And yet the pessimism persists and the 'last resorters' still dominate the conversation. But this doesn't mean we should stop challenging them.
