TPAS appoints former NEST Chair

Museji Ahmed Takolia CBE has been appointed Chair of The Pensions Advisory Service.

TPAS provides free information and guidance on private pension matters delivered by a nationwide network of volunteer advisers.

The Chair is responsible for the overall direction of the TPAS and Mr Takolia was selected for his experience working with organisations in the charitable sector, local and central government.

Mr Takolia is also a proven champion of savers and investor’s rights from his role as Chair of the Members Panel at the National Employment Savings Trust.

He will take up his post from 1 February 2016 for a four-year term and will replace Geoff Shanks, acting Chair, who stands down on 31 January.

Minister for Pensions, Baroness Ros Altmann, said:

"I am pleased to announce that Museji Ahmed Takolia will be the next Chair of The Pensions Advisory Service. This service does excellent work in helping the public with pension inquiries.

"He has made an impressive contribution as Chair of the NEST Members Panel, helping to protect and promote the interest of savers so they can enjoy a financially secure retirement.

"Museji brings a breadth of leadership experience across a range of public services and his insights into the pension landscape will be invaluable. I look forward to working with him."
