FR: What does winning a Women’s Recognition Award mean to you and why are awards like this so important for the industry?

Winning a Women’s recognition award was truly one of the highlights of my year! For me, the award means that I’ve been recognised for my dedication to my industry and to later life lending.

It’s also a fantastic testament to the work I continue to undertake to support and empower the women I am proud to call my colleagues and peers. I believe that diversity is better and I think it’s still safe to say that the financial services industry has room for improvement where equality is concerned, it’s great to see such positive strides forward around recognising the contribution of many of the amazing women who work in the industry.

FR: Tell us more about your role in financial services.

My role of Marketing Executive for Hodge Lifetime encompasses many things from digital marketing, copywriting and e-comms through to events management. I communicate regularly with Advisers, ensuring they know what Hodge is about, what our products look like and who they serve, it’s a big part of what I do and I really enjoy it. Our product proposition and the market as a whole mean I always have allot to talk about, I feel passionately that older borrowers should be able to access flexible and innovative products and I like to shout about it!

FR: What are you most proud of in your career so far?

In my career to date, I am most proud of the fact that through hard work and perseverance I am now in a job that I love. I work for a fantastic company that supports and encourages my development as well as recognising my contribution. The later life lending sector has seen so much change in the last few years and I’m excited and proud to play a small part in a market that provides invaluable support and much needed products for older borrowers.

FR: What one change would you like to see in financial services in the near future?

I think the one change I’d like to see would be more women in financial advice. Whatever sector of the industry, I believe diversity is better and can only help ensure consumers get the best possible experience and outcome. I’d also love to see more women supporting women, don’t be afraid to shout about your peers, creating trusted environments that boost confidence, skills and balance, something we feel strongly about at Hodge.

FR: If you had one piece of advice for someone starting out in financial services, what would it be?

Work hard, smile often, believe in yourself and you can do whatever you want in life!
