Morpheus Lending has announced the appointment of Gerald Grimes to its board of directors.
Gerald joins as a non-executive director and will transition to group chairman over the coming months as Morpheus continues to scale.
He brings almost 35 years of experience in the financial services sector, including leadership roles as managing director of Hitachi Capital and, more recently, group CEO at Together. His extensive non-executive portfolio also includes six years on the board of the FCA.
Matt Mawdesley launched the specialist lender last year, introducing funding solutions for UK commercial, corporate, and property professionals.
Mawdesley, the lender's co-founder and CEO, was previously head of strategy at Together.
Gerald Grimes commented: "The specialist lending sector has been crying out for innovation for years, and Morpheus is addressing this by combining market-leading technology with genuine human experience. I've been following the Morpheus journey since the start and have been incredibly impressed by their new approach to tackle the issues stakeholders face in the mortgage industry.
"I'm thrilled to join the business at this exciting time and use my experience to further enhance its board and senior leadership team."
Matt Mawdesley, founder and CEO at Morpheus, added: "On behalf of the entire team, I'm proud to welcome Gerald as an investor and chairman. Having worked with him previously, I know firsthand the immense value he brings to businesses as they scale and mature their operations. As we enter our next phase, completing institutional funding lines and investing further in our technology and customer proposition, Gerald's insight will be invaluable."
