"We have created a model that allows them to work for themselves, but be part of a wider network of support and it is proving very popular."

The self-employed division, which was launched with just three brokers in June 2016, also generated half a million pounds worth of income in March – up 40% on the previous month.

Just Mortgages has now appointed Stuart Mitchell as its new divisional sales director to work alongside Rob Perrin in London and the South of England.

Stuart has almost 30 years of financial services experience, and was most recently executive sales manager at Countrywide.

Carl Parker, director of business partnerships, commented: “The self-employed division really has gone from strength to strength over the past few months. At the start of 2017 we had 13 brokers, by the end of the year it was up to 81 and less than four months later we are at 100.

“Many brokers want to go self-employed but are worried about losing that support so we have created a model that allows them to work for themselves, but be part of a wider network of support and it is proving very popular.

“We have grown our broker numbers seven-fold in just a 15 months and I plan to increase numbers by a further 50% by the end of this year, with a longer term goal of having over 250 self-employed brokers by 2020.”
