Philip Hammond, the Transport Minister today announced the Coalition Government’s revised plans for the new high speed train line between London and Birmingham following protests from those affected by the proposed route.
The line, which has been redesigned to lessen the impact on the environment, sees up to 50% of the original route modified in some way.
Mark Hayward, vice president of the NAEA, said:
“Clearly the government is looking to address the concerns of those residents living along the line, and the visual and noise reduction measures publicised today shows they are going some way to alleviate these concerns.
“The rail line cannot avoid all impacts on property values.
“However until the full extent of the changes are understood, politicians and campaigners should refrain from jumping to conclusions about what that effect will be.
