A new free community, Mortgage Lab, has launched to help UK mortgage professionals learn and implement AI.
It is backed by five founding partners: Curvestone AI and JammJar as headline partners, alongside Keychain, Roma Finance and Instamo.
Three in four UK advice professionals now use AI, but Mortgage Lab says most of the guidance available is generic, not built for a regulated advice process.
Intelliflo’s 2026 UK Advice Efficiency Survey found AI use among advice professionals rose from 43% to 74% in a single year, with most starting on everyday work such as note-taking, transcription and report writing.
Since launching, Mortgage Lab has built a Friday Briefing, a daily AI news feed, a podcast and a growing library of practical guides and videos. Everything it publishes is built for the mortgage advice process, not borrowed from general AI content. Advisers can join free at mortgagelab.ai.
The founding partners will support Mortgage Lab's free and member content through blogs, videos, podcasts, webinars and training, sharing what they are learning directly with advisers.
Mortgage Lab was founded in 2026 by Liz Syms, CEO of Connect for Intermediaries, and Paul Brett, director of BTS Consult & Coach. Rebecca Whitney, founder of Advisory 9, and CTO Mike Potts have joined to offer technical expertise.
Liz Syms, co-founder of Mortgage Lab, said: "Advisers aren't asking whether to use AI anymore. They're asking how to use it without putting a client file or a Consumer Duty outcome at risk, and without losing time they don't have. That's the question Mortgage Lab exists to answer, with straight, practical guidance from people who work in this industry every day. Having two headline partners and three more sponsors on board from day one tells us the industry wants this too."
Paul Brett, co-founder of Mortgage Lab, commented: "I've spent nearly forty years in this market and I've rarely seen a change move this quickly. Adoption among advisers has jumped in a single year. Our partners are joining the conversation with advisers, sharing what they're learning on the podcast and in our sessions. That's exactly the kind of practical, honest content the community is asking for."
Dawid Kotur, CEO of Curvestone AI, said: "Advisers are adopting AI faster than almost anyone expected, and they want to do it properly. Mortgage Lab gives them practical, trusted guidance from people who understand the advice process. We’re pleased to support it as a founding headline partner, bringing our technical and AI expertise to help advisers adopt AI with the right compliance and oversight in place."
Karl Griffin, CEO of JammJar, added: “Mortgage Lab gives brokers practical guidance on using AI in their day-to-day work, with the chance to learn from people who really understand the mortgage market. We’re supporting it as a founding Headline partner because we want to share what we’re learning at JammJar and help more firms cut admin, spend more time with clients and grow without the same increase in costs.”
