The episode, released on 20th October, explores McClure's transition from working predominantly in mortgage advice to becoming an independent financial adviser (IFA), including his experience of expanding his services into wider financial planning.

Hosted by New Leaf Distribution CEO Daniel Hobbs and chairman Mark Hobbs, the podcast features conversations with financial advisers and industry figures about their careers, business development and experiences working in financial services.

Daniel Hobbs, CEO of New Leaf Distribution, said: "James is a great guest to start Season 2 because his story reflects something we see across the profession. Advisers build experience in one area and then start thinking about what the next stage of their career or business could look like.

"The podcast is about getting behind those decisions. We don’t just want to hear where somebody is today. We want to understand how they got there, the challenges they faced along the way and what other advisers can learn from their experience.

"The response to Season 1 showed us there is a real appetite for honest conversations with people actually building businesses and careers in financial services. With Season 2, we want to take that even further."

The first series covered topics including building an advice business, mortgages, protection, financial planning, developing specialist services and overcoming professional setbacks.

Hobbs added: "Financial services is full of brilliant people with fascinating stories, but we don’t always hear the journey behind the end result.

"If somebody watches an episode and comes away with one idea, one bit of inspiration or simply the confidence to make the next move in their own career, then the podcast has done what we set out to achieve."
