Jake Crossley’s journey into financial planning started unusually early - and with more obstacles than most. He joined a local firm at sixteen for a summer internship, helping with administration and paraplanning before heading to university. But after surviving a life-changing knife attack, Jake chose not to let that moment define him. Instead, he returned to the profession that had first sparked his ambition. He qualified as a financial adviser at just nineteen, achieving his diploma in under nine months, and immediately began building his own client base from the ground up. Now representing Phil Anderson Financial Services, Jake has expanded the firm’s reach 300 miles south of its Aberdeen headquarters, establishing a strong regional presence in Cheshire.
"At nineteen, I became one of the youngest regulated financial planners in the country."
Jake’s career has been driven by determination and results. Starting as a trainee adviser, he threw himself into his studies and qualified faster than many in the profession. When his first role didn’t provide the opportunities he’d hoped for, he created his own - reaching out to Phil Anderson Financial Services after spotting a chance to grow their footprint in the North West.
Since then, he’s built a thriving client base from scratch, opening up a new region for the firm and helping to close the local advice gap. His focus on inclusivity - supporting clients of all backgrounds, not just the wealthy - has become a hallmark of his approach. In just a few short years, Jake has helped people retire early, navigate illness, and achieve major life goals. His ability to translate complex financial planning into clear, actionable advice has already earned him recognition, including Young Financial Planner of the Year (North England, Northern Ireland & Scotland).
Beyond client work, Jake is passionate about mentoring. He supports trainee advisers - some twice his age - and helps onboard new team members, including the firm’s newly hired mortgage broker. He’s also working to promote financial education among younger audiences, exploring creative ways to make money management more relatable, from school talks to his own project using music as a tool for financial awareness.
