Maddie
Gray

Senior Marketing Specialist

Skipton Building Society

After graduating with a first-class degree in Marketing, Maddie joined Skipton with no background in financial services - just a determination to learn and make an impact. What began as an entry-level opportunity quickly evolved into a career built on insight, collaboration, and bold ideas. Seven years on, Maddie has become a key voice within Skipton’s intermediary marketing team. She leads multi-channel campaigns that strengthen relationships with brokers, deliver measurable brand growth, and ensure Skipton’s messaging always feels authentic and relevant.

"What started as an entry-level assistant role quickly evolved into a career I’m passionate about."

Elevating marketing with authenticity and clarity:
Maddie's story so far...

Throughout her career, Maddie has helped transform how Skipton communicates with the broker community. She played a central role in increasing brand marketing recall by over 20 percentage points (as measured by BDRC), driven by her collaborative approach to strategy, storytelling, and execution.

Her standout work includes leading the ‘Skip To’ campaign - refreshing Skipton’s brand tone and highlighted its strengths in underwriting and BDM support. The campaign achieved record levels of engagement and resonated strongly with brokers, reinforcing Skipton’s reputation for clarity and dependability.

Maddie also conceived and launched ‘Skipton Talks’, a digital-first content series created during the pandemic to maintain open communication with brokers. Delivered via webinars and on-demand videos, it offered transparent updates and meaningful conversations with Skipton’s underwriters, BDMs, and leaders. The series’ success helped shape a new era of authentic, human marketing - evolving into in-person ‘Skipton Listens’ forums that continue to strengthen broker relationships today.

Her work consistently demonstrates that innovation doesn’t always mean reinventing the wheel - it means doing things better, with purpose, empathy, and attention to what matters most.

Maddie's career highlights

  1. Promoted from entry-level assistant to Senior Campaign Manager within seven years.
  2. Helped increase broker brand recall by 20+ percentage points (BDRC).
