Samuel’s route into financial services wasn’t planned - it was earned. After trying his hand at various jobs in nurseries, restaurants, and retail, he landed a part-time role as a Credit Controller in 2018. That’s where he first discovered his affinity for finance - and where a colleague introduced him to L&C Mortgages. Starting as a Case Manager, Samuel quickly realised he had a knack for helping people through the complex homebuying process. But his ambitions didn’t stop there. Between 2019 and 2020, he interviewed four times to become a mortgage adviser - failing the first three, even after completing his CeMAP exams in his own time. On the fourth attempt, he succeeded. Since then, he’s built a thriving career through a mix of persistence, empathy, and performance. Six years later, Samuel has become one of the company’s most respected advisers - and a role model for those entering the industry the hard way.
"My journey into financial services wasn’t linear or easy, but it’s one that’s shaped my drive, empathy, and ambition"
Today, Samuel sits comfortably in the top 10 of 250 advisers at L&C Mortgages, submitting 315 mortgage applications this year alone, totalling over £274,000 in business. His results speak volumes, but so does his commitment to improving the experience for both customers and colleagues.
He’s helped shape company policy too - joining a working group that advised L&C’s leadership team on adviser retention, where his proposal to lower the bonus threshold for new starters was adopted and credited with boosting motivation and retention among early-career advisers.
Samuel also plays a mentoring role, guiding new advisers through the realities of client communication - from managing complex cases to delivering difficult news with empathy. He leads through quiet influence and example, making him a trusted colleague and valued adviser.
