Megan Sankey didn’t set out to work in financial services - she stumbled into it. While juggling four jobs during university, she applied for a banking officer role she assumed was out of reach. Instead, it became her breakthrough. Her grounded, people-first approach to work, shaped by long hours in hospitality and retail, quickly found a home in finance. Today, Megan is a key member of the product team at Together Money, where she’s helping shape how the business builds, delivers, and improves its products. Her career so far is defined by curiosity, courage and a constant drive to make financial services more inclusive, collaborative and customer-focused.
"It taught me that this industry isn’t just for people with economics degrees or with corporate polish it’s for people who care about people, who work hard, and who want to make things better."
Coming from a working-class background, Megan admits she never imagined herself in finance. But her first role at a private arm of a high street bank opened her eyes to what the industry could be: a place where empathy and hard work mattered as much as technical skill.
At Together Money, she’s already made her mark. She led the design and rollout of the company’s first retention and product transfer process, a project that has improved the customer experience, increased broker engagement, and saved the business over £70,000 in commission. She’s also played a leading role in Together’s digital transformation programme - bridging product, operations and technology to ensure new systems truly reflect customer needs.
Megan’s impact extends beyond processes. She’s built frameworks that make collaboration a habit, not an afterthought - from creating a digital roadmap that replaced outdated manual planning, to establishing structured feedback loops between brokers, sales and product teams.
Her ability to spot opportunities and turn them into tangible results has made her a trusted voice in the business, and she’s proof that leadership doesn’t need a title.
